Obama Administration Announces New Offshore Drilling Rules To Reduce Chance Of Oil Spills


PETROBRAS is not just an oil company anymore ... it's an energy enterprise ... dealing from oil and ethanol to solar and wind power projects and fertilizers ... pretty much like in the same way most, if not all, oil companies of yesterday have reestructured themselves in our present times. PETROBRAS has 13.174 oil wells in full production. Three hundred and six concessions in production, 283 of them are operated EXCLUSIVELY by Petrobras. A hundred and twelve plataforms (floored 78 and 34 floating) Not to mention reserves of 11.19 billion barrels of oil and gas. Two hundred and eight thousand nine hundred and sixty two shareholders ... and so forth. Besides, PETROBRAS is heavily investing, with the financial support of BNDES, on Brazil's industries of rig and plataform production.



Now answering your question, you can not drill there at free will because it's a state monopoly. The majority of Brazilians want to keep it like it is and most of them see their natural resources as their very private handicap ... you've got to bite the bullet on that issue ...
